Hariyali Teej is a monsoon festival and is inspired by the greenery .On this day girls dress up in green and swing on beautifully decorated swings . Girls apply heena to their hands and feet and are excused from household chores on this day.

On the day of Hariyali Teej, they also dress up beautifully in green sari and with green bangles, which is the significant colour of the festival. Some women observe ritualistic fasts .
Delicious Menu for A Memorable Teej -
1.Ghewar: Ghewar is a North Indian Sweet and Traditionally associated with the Teej Festival. There are many varieties of Ghevar, including plain, mawa and malai ghevar. As per ayurveda, the months of Shravan and Bhadrapada i.e. July-August-September are predominated with Vata and Pitta respectively. This causes dryness and acidity in the whole body, resulting in restlessness and mood swings.The Ghevar and Firni provide relief from the acidic and moist environment. They have Vata and Pitta calming properties due to ghee and sweet juice. Thus, they have a calming effect on mind as well as the body.
2. Kheer : Kheer is a rice pudding. Made by boiling milk and sugar with one of the following: rice, brwheat, tapioca, vermicelli, sweet corn, etc. It is flavored with cardamom, raisins, saffron, cashews, pistachios, almonds or other dry fruits and nuts. It is typically served during a meal or as a dessert. Kheer prepared for Teej is usually rice-based, but some even use vermicelli in place of rice.
3.Malpua: Much like kheer, malpuas too have a distinct place in Hindu festivals, especially the ones celebrated up North, like Teej.
4. Mirchi Pakodas: Mirchi Pakodas can give an interesting twist on Teej. All you need to do is take some besan in a bowl and add carom seeds or ajwain, chili powder, garam masala, Heeng, Salt, Baking Soda and make a thick batter. Dip the mirchis into the batter and deep fry them. Your Mirchi Pakodas will be ready in minutes.
5.Samosa: One of the most loved snacks of the nation that needs no introduction and certainly no special occasion to be served on to your plates - the samosa .It is served hot and is often eaten with fresh green chutney, such as mint, coriander, or tamarind.
